HOUSE DISTRICT 24

ABOUT HD 24

Wilson County comprises most of House District 24, although a small portion of it spills over into Nash County. Nestled in the eastern part of the state, these counties boast rich histories and vibrant communities.

Wilson County is home to several small towns like Black Creek, Elm City, and Saratoga. Its county seat and largest town is Wilson, which has a thriving downtown area filled with charming shops, restaurants, and artistic venues such as the Vollis Simpson Whirligig Park. While agriculture once played a significant role in Wilson County's economy, now manufacturing and health care jobs employ many in the area. The county is also home to Barton College, a higher education institution that adds to the academic landscape of the region.

Nash County, with its county seat in Nashville, also includes the towns of Rocky Mount, Spring Hope, and Whitakers. The area's economy is diverse, with agriculture, manufacturing, and healthcare being prominent industries.

The counties' prime location along major highways facilitates convenient travel to areas like Raleigh and the Triangle.
Despite their unique characteristics, both counties wrestle with issues around economic growth, education, health care access, and community development.
