We are so proud of the work that WeCAN 2024 did in key NC Legislative districts. C2C raised over $375,000 to knock on over 50,000 doors in swing districts. These efforts were a key reason that NC Democrats were able to break the GOP supermajority in the NC House!

SUPERMAJORITY BROKEN
IN 2024, wecan paid canvassers knocked on over 50,000 doors and talked with over 10,000 voters!
While we don’t yet have data on how effective WeCAN 2024 was in increasing voter turnout in key legislative districts across the state, we do know that our canvassers knocked on a lot of doors and talked with 10,459 unique voters. That’s a really big deal, especially as all of our C2C WeCAN candidates won or lost their races on small margins.
We also know that two of those critical wins in the NC House helped Democrats break the GOP supermajority, giving Governor-elect Stein the power of the veto pen! This is a critical win.
We will do a deep dive on the effectiveness of the program when NC Board of Elections full data comes back in early 2025. We hope the data shows that WeCAN 2024 was at least as effective as our pilot program in 2022, which increased voter turnout by almost 25% (see full results report below).
We also know that campaigns and candidates believe that WeCAN made a difference in their races, and we’re featuring just a bit of the feedback we’ve received so far.

2022 data indicated that the more doors we knock, the more Democratic voters turn out at the polls. So we saturated the districts of eight crucial NC House and Senate races in 2024.
All of these races were very close, some of them won or lost by razor-thin margins. We believe WeCAN helped BREAK the GOP supermajority as well as generate votes for Democrats running in other NC statewide offices.
More detailed data will come in the next few months, but there is no doubt that WeCAN canvassers were working in the right NC House and Senate districts to help us achieve our goals.
